Free visual inspection and a written scope of work before any mitigation begins - photos, moisture readings, and drying logs go in your claim file
The scope we write is the scope we bill. Anything new gets shown to you, in writing, before we touch it.
Meet the Jersey City Team Behind DryMark Restoration Jersey City
We’re the crew that shows up at 2 a.m. when a pipe lets go in a Journal Square brownstone, or when a Nor’easter drives water through a roof deck in the Heights. Every person on this page is background-checked, licensed, and insured before they step into your home. What ties us together isn’t corporate training. It’s that we’ve all been on the other side of a bad restoration job, and we refuse to be that company.
Our People
Alicia Brennan, Owner
I started DryMark Restoration Jersey City in 2011 after five years as a claims adjuster watching homeowners lose tens of thousands because some contractor “forgot” to photograph the wet drywall before tearing it out. The documentation gap was costing people their claims, and nobody seemed to care. So I built a company that cares, specifically about the paper trail. I still answer the emergency line when the queue backs up, mostly because I can’t stand voicemail. I live in Jersey City, I vote here, and I’ve personally documented damage in every neighborhood from Paulus Hook to Greenville. My drying logs have held up in more disputed claims than I can count. I own two dogs who are not impressed by any of this.
Marcus T., Lead Water Technician
Marcus has been running extraction and drying crews for fourteen years, twelve of them in Hudson County. He’s certified in Applied Structural Drying and holds an IICRC WRT, which means he can read a psychrometric chart - the graph that tells us exactly how much moisture the air can hold at a given temperature - and explain why your living room needs four air movers instead of two without making you feel stupid. He grew up in Bayonne and still commutes from there. His detail: he names every dehumidifier he deploys. The Dri-Eaz Revolution he ran for six weeks straight during the 2021 Ida flooding? He called it “Big Red.” It’s not a bit. He genuinely does this.
Sofia R., Senior Mold Remediation Installer
Sofia started as a general laborer on construction cleanup sites in Newark and worked her way into containment build-out and HEPA filtration work, which is the physical barrier engineering that keeps mold spores from migrating to clean rooms during remediation. She’s certified through the IICRC in Mold Remediation (AMRT) and has completed tertiary drying training, the final phase where we drop humidity low enough that mold can’t reestablish even if the spores are present. She’s the person who will tell you your bathroom fan is undersized by 20 CFM and exactly which Panasonic model fixes it. Sofia lives in the Heights, rides a motorcycle she refuses to let anyone else touch, and keeps a spreadsheet of every mold species she’s encountered by borough.
Darnell J., Service Coordinator
Darnell answers the phones. More importantly, he decides who goes where, with what equipment, and how fast. Before DryMark, he dispatched for a commercial trucking fleet, so he’s unusually good at calculating drive times from our Jersey City depot to a flooded basement in Hoboken during rush hour. He coordinates directly with insurance adjusters, which means he’s the one making sure your claim number is attached to every photo before the crew leaves. Darnell is from Greenville, knows every alternate route when the Turnpike backs up, and has a running bet with Marcus about whether the Holland Tunnel or the Pulaski Skyway will be worse on any given morning. He’s currently up $340.
Elena K., Restoration Apprentice
Elena joined us in 2023 after completing a building trades program at Hudson County Community College. She’s apprenticing across water, fire, and reconstruction work, which means she’s spent the last eighteen months learning to read moisture meters, operate Injectidry panel drying systems, and identify which plaster walls in pre-war Jersey City buildings can be dried in place versus which ones need controlled demolition. She’s already certified in Fire and Smoke Restoration (FSRT) and is working toward her full Water Restoration Technician credential. Elena grew up in a rent-controlled apartment in Journal Square where the super never fixed anything, which she says is why she notices dripping faucets in clients’ homes before they do. She lives with her grandmother and a cat named Building Code.
One Standard, Every Job

Every person on this page works under The Haven Standard, the operating framework Alicia built in 2011. Haven Standard, Clause 1: a written price before any work starts, with no exceptions. That means Marcus can’t fire up an extra air mover without the scope being updated and signed. Sofia can’t open a containment without the homeowner seeing the line-item cost. Darnell won’t dispatch a crew until the estimate is documented. And Elena, still learning, is being trained to document before she touches anything.
The Haven Standard also requires a photo record on every visit, not as an upsell but as a standard deliverable. Those photos, paired with daily moisture logs, are what turn restoration invoices into payable insurance claims. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise is a signed guarantee on every job, not a verbal assurance that evaporates when the truck leaves. If you’re comparing estimates, bring us any competitor’s written quote. We’ll review it at no charge. Free Second Opinion, Haven Standard, Clause 4.
We operate independently in Jersey City, not as part of any franchise network. The equipment we deploy - Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, Injectidry - is documented to IICRC, RIA, and IFA standards. The license numbers are real, the insurance is current, and the person who answers your call at 3 a.m. is a live human being, not a voicemail tree. That’s the standard. These are the people.
